My first flight since the crash and the repairs to my glider.
Duration: 4:16 23 March 2014
It had to happen one day - I crash my hang glider. Unfortunately, the impact was so hard the video stopped and didn't capture the actual crash!

An enoyable flight in light winds at the Devil's Dyke. Still adjusting to the new harness, I'm over cautious and fly away from traffic (and the lift) and head to the bottom landing field. I almost completely fluff a bottom landing as I'm still struggling to get on the up-rights!

While still getting used to my new harness, I bottom land at the Devil's Dyke and am not quite prepared for the wind to be so far off to the west!

Highlights of a dissapointing flight at Firle. With such high hopes for the day, the lift didn't materialise. Flying was hard work and there was little reward. However, after a long layoff, it was good to get back into the air again.

A short summary of both of my flights with the Suffolk Coastal Floaters Hang Gliding Club. My first flight ends with an interesting landing approach and my second I embark on a very short XC.

Recent amendments to aerotowing procedures in the UK require gliders of certain aspect ratios to be towed with a 50:50 bridle and trolley launched only. The AirBorne Sting 3:168, with an aspect ratio of 5.7, falls into this category. This is my first aerotow in this configuration. Thanks to Stewart and Cathy of Flylight for taking the time out to set-up the glider and get me up in the air again!

The first sled ride I've done in a while. With a sea breeze coming, I made the best of the conditions. All was going well until I came in for landing, when I realised it was downwind!

A quick edit from 4 of my flights at Mendlesham on the 11 November 2012. Caught in this edit is the moment a Shadow Ultralight passes beneath me and lands on the Mendlesham runway. I was caught a little bit off guard by its landing approach!

Narrated highlights of my hang glider aerotow conversion course with Flylight. This course converts a hang glider pilot with a hill or tow endorsement to the aerotow environment. Gliders flown, Aeros Target 16 and an AirBorne Sting 3:168. The course was run over two consecutive Mondays and the video shows 'some' of the activities from the final day of the endorsement.

A bit of a surprise this one! I found this video on YouTube one day whilst browing hang gliding movies. It's a video of me launching my Aeros Target hang glider a the Devil's Dyke. The recording was made by someone unknown to me. The commentary on the video was pretty accurate; I was waiting for the wind to pick up before I launched. Over two and a half years have passed since I completed my tow endorsement with Lejair, so a trip to Mendlesham in Suffolk gave me the chance to see just how much I remembered! This is a little edit of 'two' of my flights from the day - although it may appear to be one flight. To view the hang gliding log entry for this day of flying, click here.

An interesting afternoon at the Devil's Dyke. Plenty of paragliders to fly around and one that got a little too close for my personal comfort! To view the hang gliding log entry for this day of flying, click here.

Another film from the air. This time I mount the camera in a new position. The flight was pretty rough but unusual for me, lasted over an hour - that was longer than the life of battery in the camera, so no actual landing in this video. A scratchy flight at Bo Peep on the 25 September 2008. Ultimately this ended in another bottom landing! The camera was mounted on the right upright facing forwards. To view the hang gliding log entry for this day of flying, click here.

This video was taken back from the days when I was flying my Aeros Target and any flying on my part would have best been described as gale hanging! For that reason I opted not to fly and instead, filmed some of the flying using a tripod mounted camera. The music in this piece is called 'Melt' from the album 'Leftism', by Leftfield.
