Bo Peep

Today was one of those fortunate days when I wasn't working and the weather forecast was favourable for some flying.

I arrived at Bo Peep but the wind wasn't as strong as I'd expected so staying up looked like a challenge. A short while later my glider was rigged and I launched. My initial impressions were correct, staying up was difficult and as I beat back and forth along the small ridge I knew I was destined for the bottom landing field. A perfect landing followed and that was that.

I packed my glider up then set-off on foot back to takeoff. Arriving at take-off it was now apparent that the wind strength had picked up. I collected my car, drove back to the bottom landing field, fetched my glider then returned back to take-off. I'd try another flight!

A short while later I was again rigged and ready for takeoff. After a good solid takeoff it was much easier to stay up. As usual I beat back and forth along the ridge and after around 30 minutes of this I decided time to attempt a top landing.

My approach started from above the car park following the barbed wire fence that runs along the top of the hill. I made a conscious decision to stay upwind of the fence as on previous occasions I had seen others almost land on it! As it turns out the fence wasn't a problem as I drifted eastwards on my descent until I landed in the large landing area behind the main bowl; an easy landing area but with an epic carry back to the car! Who cares, another 40 minutes airtime acquired!
